Proterra Catalyst E2

A new electric bus that can travel 350 miles on a single charge. Talk about efficiency!

  • The Proterra Catalyst E2 will most likely be found in busy cities and along US Mass Transit routes where there are lots of city travelers looking to ride the bus

  • At the moment, there is no expected price tag on this revolutionary bus

  • I believe the impact will be huge: since the bus' range is 350 miles, it should be able to complete a full (and busy) day of routes without needing to be switched out and charged up

  • Likewise, the bus should most definetly stick around, unless a newer model is produced by Proterra

  • As of September 19, 2016, the Proterra Catalyst E2 is set to be released sometime next year (2017) with production already occurring

  • Interestingly enough, in June 2016, the startup company Proterra released some of its patents to third party organizations to help speed up the development of new pure electric buses

  • During a recent test at Michelin's Laurens Proving Grounds in South Carolina, an E2 bus traveled more than 600 miles on a single charge!

  • The bus' battery can store up to 660 kWh (as a means of reference, the Chevy Bolt stores up to 60 kWh in its battery)
